Quarantine Date Ideas
Today is my hubby and I’s 8 year anniversary! It’s been a wild 8 years and you can check my facebook page for a sappy and slightly humorous post. But today, I want to throw out some Quarantine Date Ideas.
We are in Illinois and have been on lockdown for over 2 months and it sounds like we will be on lockdown for quite some time. We were trying to find something special to do together but we had a few things going against us.
First, as the families main breadwinner, my income being reduced to 1/8th of what it was prior. And second, we have three children and live 7+ hours away from family. Third, our entire state is still shut down with no where to go besides Walmart. :)
But, we were up for the challenge! Cheap, Indoor Date, Away from Children… we are PRO’s at this! During the first 4 years of our marriage, this was the only type of date night we took! So, we sat down, channeled all the creative juices and came up with a list of ideas! And, we want to share them with you! Because when you’re with each other 24/7 and irritability has skyrocketed it kind of puts a damper on the flames of romance!

THRIFTY COOK-OFF
I don’t know about you but we have become experts at rummaging through the cabinets and making meals out of what we already have. So, make it a competition! Each of you can bake your own thing! You can select a category such as dinner or dessert!
When it comes time for judging, points will be awarded for effort and creativity. Make the judge a family member, your children, or even go live on Facebook and let people decide that way!
TikTok
Okay, Okay, I know that TikTok gets a bad rap! But the truth is… this app is amazing. When you first start out it will show you a variety of videos and as you begin to like and comment on things, it’ll customize what you see based on what types of things you like. TikTok, like any social media, could be used for bad, like ALL social media platforms.
Chase and I have had SO MUCH FUN watching TikTok together and even creating a few of our own. It’s free of political drama and full of so much lighthearted humor, dance challenges, cool tip videos and so much more! And while this might not sound like a very fun “date night” to you… I promise you that you guys will bond and connect over this app in no time! Here are some of our favorites that we’ve made:
QUARANTINE OLYMPICS
Speaking of TikTok, this next date idea was inspired by this amazing family that we happened to find on TikTok! The Presley Family from Cornelius, North Carolina created a series of creative family games like “Ping Pong Pan Challenge” and “The Straw Challenge” and started calling it the Quarantine Olympics. Steal their ideas or create your own and share them on social!
SPOUSE HAIR CHALLENGE
This adorable date night is inspired my friends Lexie and Jacob! Basically you have your spouse do your hair based on what they think they know! Watch their awesome video below and post the results for your friends to see on social media! If you don’t want to do the hair challenge, you could have them do makeup instead!
VIRTUAL TOURS OF ATTRACTIONS
Yes, everything is closed! But so many museums, art centers, theaters, and attractions are having FREE VIRTUAL TOURS for you guys to explore from the comfort of your couch and yoga pants.
LEARN TO DANCE
If learning TikTok dances isn’t your thing, check out YouTube! There are so many amazing dancing tutorials that can teach you both how to dance anything from the Salsa to the Waltz!
VIRTUAL DOUBLE DATE
Zoom is out and HouseParty is in!!!! This face to face social network is just like Zoom/Facetime but better! You get to see all the people at the same time no matter how many. You have to invite them! They have games for you to play like Chips and Guac (their version of Apples to Apples), trivia, and so much more! This is the new way to spend time with those you love! Not to mention, when someone logs on it’ll say, “Ariel Dilworth is in the house!” 😂😂 Sometimes it’s the little things.
GAME OF PHONES SCAVENGER HUNT
This amazing date is brought to you by The Dating Divas. These ladies provide you with some cards that you will start by shuffling and laying them in a stack face down. Flip the first card over and the scavenger hunt begins. You search through your phone finding a corresponding photo. Whoever finishes first wins that card and whoever has the most cards at the end wins! But honestly, just completing the cards and reliving those memories together is enough! :)
PILLOW TALK
Alright, I know sex isn’t something we talk about… but we should! But how do we increase passion and intimacy with our spouse? By talking about it! Sex is an important part of marriage! Communication is an amazing way to connect and actually feel closer to your spouse and the perfect way to reignite passion! So tonight, exchange Netflix for these Sexy Questions that you and your spouse NEED to talk about!
P.S. These questions ARE blunt, honest, and real in the matters of sex. So, some of you might blush. But, that’s all the more reason for you to talk about them!

FINDER’S KEEPERS
This date is inspired by a couple we found on TikTok (don’t judge)! Basically, you take turns going down aisles at the grocery store, point your finger around until your partner says “stop” and whate’ver your finger lands on is what you have to buy.
PAINT-OFF
This date night is ALSO inspired by my good friends Lexie and Jacob, because they’re cute like that! Here’s what you need:
Canvas for each of you
Paint
Something to throw down on the floor so you don’t get too messy!
Netflix/YouTube
Select a Bob Ross episode on Netflix or look for a painting tutorial on youtube. Watch it together, not looking at each others painting and share your finished products at the end! Even if you aren’t artistically inclined, this date is SO MUCH FUN! Not to mention all the amazing opportunities it gives you to tease and taunt and flirt with your spouse!
AIRBNB ONLINE EXPERIENCES
As if Airbnb wasn’t amazing enough, they created a way for the world to stay united and help small businesses in the process through their Airbnb Online Experiences. They now offer fun online experiences for people to participate in. Everything from Learning Magic, Family Baking Experiences, Wine Class, and Concerts! Prices vary but all of those I just listed were between $10-$20!
order-in & shop local
Have a full course meal from the comfort of your own home! Order appetizers from one place, main course from another, dessert from another and drinks from another! This is a great way to support these local businesses during this time. While you’re waiting on your food, head over to google and their facebook pages and leave them a rave review! Think of things that travelers or new people would want to know and make sure you include them in your review! Can’t decide on where to order from, I’ve got you covered:
Both of you list your favorites
Head over to Wheel of Names
Type in the names of your favorite restaurants on the right. Spin the wheel. First selection is for appetizers, second is for the main course, third is for dessert, etc. Check out this video demonstration.
Once your food is in, play a board game, or you can play Would You Rather, 20 Questions or Trivia, all of which can be found online! Or, better yet, travel around to the Facebook pages of all your favorite local businesses and see what kind of deals they are hosting (hair salons, photographers, boutiques, thrift stores, home repair companies, etc.)! It’s a date with a good cause that will cause others to literally jump for joy during such an uncertain time!
Conclusion
Just because we are together 24/7 doesn’t mean we’re actually “together.” Take some time to connect with your spouse and make sure you’re planning intentional dates, even during quarantine!
