8 Things To-Do the Month of Your Wedding
It’s finally here! The month of your wedding! You’re so close to saying “I do” and trust me, I know that at this point you are feeling READY! But, there are a few last minute details that still need to be done so that nothing falls through the cracks and your wedding day can be as stress-free as possible.
Vendors
Make sure you get in touch with all of your vendors and confirm and then re-confirm each arrangement, addresses, timelines, etc. For example:
Giving reception site and your caterer a final head count.
Supply location manager with a list of vendor requests such as table for Dj, etc.
Give ceremony and reception site managers a schedule of vendor delivery and set up times and contact numbers.
Make sure your party bus, limousine or car rental company has the correct pickup times and locations.
Appointments
Confirm any last minute appointments like Hair, Nails, Waxing, Makeup, etc.
Point Person
At my very last consultation I will ask for your “point person.” You don’t need anyone calling you the day of the wedding with a minor crisis. To avoid that, always have someone for them to contact and make sure they have that name and contact information in advance. This person is also helpful in making sure that all checks are written and given to vendors, etc.
Details
Detail shots aren’t as effortless as they may seem. Make sure you’ve packed a plastic tub full of everything your photographer will need. Some ideas include:
Ribbons/Color Swatches/Fabrics in the color of your wedding colors
Extra Florals! Ask your florist for a few extra unattached flowers that were used in your centerpieces and bouquets/boutonnieres so we can position them properly.
Your bouquets & boutonnieres
Your ring AND his ring (bonus tip: head to the jewelers and have them cleaned so they are extra sparkly for your day)
Your shoes
Invitations & Programs & Menus (any stationary from your day)
Favors
Name Cards/ Place Setting Cards
Perfume
Veil
Ring Box- the ones that come with the ring aren’t too pretty! Check out velvet ring boxes like the one below on Etsy or Amazon.
Wine/Champaign with Glasses
Scotch, Liquor with glasses for men
Ties, Suspenders, Belt
Accessories (hairpiece, necklace, earrings, bracelet)
Anything that inspired your day (example: if your day was a rustic theme that incorporates wooden log platters, antlers, mason jars, burlap, etc. bring that. Or if your wedding has a vintage theme think along the lines of vintage clutch, typewriter, vintage suitcases, windowpanes, lace, etc.)
Pack for Honeymoon
If you are going on a honeymoon after the big day make sure you take the time to pack thoughtfully. Swimsuits, sunblock, makeup, emergency kit, Tylenol, lingerie, etc.
Hand-off (week of wedding)
Make sure you hand off these items so you don’t have to worry about it the day off:
Give Marriage License to Officiant
Give attendants gifts at rehearsal dinner
Present Parents with their gifts
Give your point person any remaining payments that need to be handed to vendors on the day of the wedding
Hand of place cards, table cards, menus, favors and any other items for setting the tables to the caterer or planner.
Welcome Baskets- if you have a welcome gift for your guests, deliver these to the hotel concierge or hand them off to somebody else to do that for you. Make a list of names, delivery instructions and any additional information so there won’t be any mix-ups.
Steam
If you’ve had your wedding dress OR veil in a bag for any amount of time, make sure you take them both out and steam them NOT the day of the wedding. Trust me when I say this takes a lot of time and there is NOT going to be time on your wedding day.
Relax with and without each other
Take some alone time to get a manicure and pedicure, get a massage or a facial (just make sure you don’t do any chemical peels to close to your wedding date). This is the month you say “I do.” This is the month you’ve been counting down to and waiting for so eagerly. It’s finally here so take some time to pause and soak it in! Then, get together for a date night. Don’t talk about anything wedding related but commemorate over your story, how you met, your favorite things about each other, what you’ve learned, and how you’ve grown.
