Jude Glen's Newborn Photography Session-- Decatur, Illinois

As humans we are so incredibly forgetful. For example, in my front yard I have this tree that blooms big, beautiful, and bright purple every spring. I know in my head that it does this. I am prepared for it to happen. But every spring it catches me by surprise with just how stunningly beautiful it is. Why am I so surprised by something I know is going to happen? It's because we are forgetful. Maybe it's because we get so distracted by our busy lives that we don't take the time to reflect. Or sometimes we just fill our minds with other information that it is hard to remember. Either way... remembering is hard. We can't recall a memory in our brain the way a photo can. When I look at a photo of this tree, it makes me awestruck all over again. 

It is the same way with people. I remember my grandma. I remember what she looked like and who she was as a person. But when I look at a photo of her... all the feelings come flooding over me. The way her hugs felt, her perfume that she smelt like, her bright pink lipstick, the way her voice sounded. All of a sudden I can remember. 

That's what I am here for. To help you remember... because unfortunately people won't live forever and our memories fade. But I want you to remember. I want to create a beautiful heirloom that whenever you look at it, you don't just remember with your mind.. you remember with your heart, your smell, your sight, your touch.

I got to photograph this beautiful family as they added another baby boy to their family. I want them remember their newborns sweet smell, their teeny little newborn noises, the way it felt when they curled up on your chest to sleep.  I want them to remember how much love their firstborn had for their second born. How much he loved to cuddle him. How much he was in awe over the love he had for his own little brother.
