Blast From the Past!
"Anyone that has been around me these past couple of months know that pregnancy has not been easy for me. One reason is because of my declining self esteem due to the many changes occurring to my body as well as recently being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Thank you Ariel for making me feel pretty again. You are amazing at what you do and are truly talented!" -Meghan
Meghan and I first met in college when my last name was still Dilworth and her last name was still Skanes. She was a dancer at our University and I was a cheerleader! We were both exceptionally short and frequently shared clothes. We had lots of good times together and our friendship was a natural one. Always easy to pick up where we left off. Fast forward 10 years and we are both married, I have 3 kids and her and her wonderful husband, Chad, are expecting their first. When I announced that my family and I were traveling to Kansas City, Missouri for Easter weekend to visit my sister, Meghan reached out to me about doing a maternity shoot for her! Of course I jumped at the opportunity. Not only would it give me a chance to catch up with a friend who I hadn't seen in nearly 5 years, it would also give me the opportunity to photograph one of my favorite things in the world.
Maternity photos and babies are some of my FAVORITE things to photograph. There is something profoundly beautiful about a family that is growing. The expecting mothers carry with them a sense of wonder, hope, and a world of possibilities! I get excited for them personally because there is NO LOVE like the love that mother has for her child. Something that isn't even fully recognized until the child is here. This undeniable love that would move you to do ANYTHING for this tiny human. It truly is incredible to witness and to photograph.
Thank you Meghan for trusting me and being extremely vulnerable during this time in your life.
